Analysis of American Value of Individualism from the Movie the
Pursuit of Happiness
Abstract：Everyone pursuit happiness, what is happiness? Different people hold a different viewpoint. The movie of the
pursuit of happiness is told us how to get the happiness that everyone desires. Not only we comprehend what is happiness
but also we try to analyze the American value of individualism from the movie. And from the movie what can we realize.

1 Introduction
1.1 Movie synopsis
It's a story of a normal man who keeps trying to change his own destiny, and it also tells
us not only those who come from a noble background or a superior family can be succeed, as
long as you want you can achieve your goals by continues effort and work hard, you can also
do it just like other people. The film is set in the context of the global crisis triggered by the
impact of the US credit crisis. Chris Gardner—average black people who get married and
have a child, which they depend on selling scanners for a living. They have not enough
money to pay their rent for months because of their shortage of life. His wife has to juggle
several jobs to support the family. Living in this city everyone under the pressure and a
number of economic aspects pressure let his wife divorced with him, and he with his son
lives a life of homeless. He went through a series of things，which the girl has cheated him
and took away his orthopedic densitometer. He is no money to take a cab, no money to find a
place to live. And he has to line up to the church every day. Even he got money from selling
blood to keep the pot boiling. Gardner was still not knocked down, insisting that his dream
finally gained the approval of his boss by his own persistence and ability, became a good
investor. Under the situation of lack of jobs and many people in need of employment, the
protagonist is still full of confidence in the pursuit of happiness; it taught us that anything is
possible if we have the courage to face all difficult
