1 Introduction
The word "tipping" is now active in people's daily life, especially in foreign countries, tipping has become an increasingly common behavior, which is something every American will experience. However, the culture of tipping is not uniform. In some places, the economy is relatively developed, so the tips are relatively high, but if the economic development of that place is not so good, the tips paid are not so high. So when we plan to go to a place, we need to know about the local conditions and the development of the people there first. If there are friends there, we can first inquire about what kind of situation there is. It is normal to ask how to give tips first. In this way, we can avoid some embarrassing or unpleasant things. Of course, there can not be such an idea that I have paid for my own income, there is no need to pay some unnecessary money to those who provide services for themselves, this idea is incorrect, at least in the United States, such a land is incorrect. So if you want to be well integrated into such an atmosphere, consumption expenditure is indispensable.
2 The Origin of Tips
2.1 The Meaning of Tipping
As for the meaning of tipping, there is a saying that it originated in a region called England, which was in the 17th century. At that time, people who ate in restaurants had an interesting discovery: a string of English letters was printed on their tableware and the Chinese meaning of "To Insure Prompt Service" was printed on the bowl, which means "to ensure prompt service". This string of English can also be understood as taking out the initials of four words and forming one. The new word is Tips, which is exactly the English word for tips. So in order to get better service or more attention, some people will pay some tips to the waiter or other people, so that they will get better service. This slowly formed a habit, became a custom, with the change of time, such a custom slowly spread to the American side, due to social development and cultural popularization step by step, such a custom will be converted into a part of American life now.
